Police are investigating the rape of a teenage girl in South Philadelphia on Wednesday night after she reportedly had attended the Mummers Parade.
The victim, 16, was walking in the area of 2nd and Tree streets when she was pulled behind a piece of plastic covering a section of scaffolding and sexually assaulted, 6ABC Action News reports.
Residents in the area came out to investigate the girl's screams, and they spotted the suspect walking away from the area. The suspect was taken into custody a few blocks away by police working the parade.
The victim may have been intoxicated, according to the report. She was taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for evaluation.
