Teresa Heinz Kerry, wife of Secretary of State John Kerry, make her first public appearance since suffering a serious seizure in July.
Heinz Kerry sat behind her husband on Tuesday as he testified to the U.S. Senate about possible military action in Syria, NBC News reports.
Heinz Kerry was welcomed back to the public eye with open arms. The chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations, Sen. Bob Menendez, announced her return.
“I just want to acknowledge the presence — and we’re thrilled to see her here today — of Teresa Heinz Kerry” on “this momentous occasion,” Menendez said. “I’m glad to see you so well and being here with us.”
"Mr. Chairman, thank you for welcoming Teresa. This is her first public event since early July, so we're all happy she's here," Secretary Kerry replied.
On July 7, Heinz Kerry suffered a seizure while at the family's vacation home in Nantucket. She was treated at Nantucket Cottage Hospital before being transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital.
