Many think the ongoing protest on Wall Street is all about the people,
but it turns out that the animal protesters in Zucotti Park also had a lot to say. After we met Hazelnut the squirrel, the littlest Wall Street protester, we couldn’t pass up the chance to get to know the other four-legged members of the 99%.

Sue (a boy called Sue)

Breed:American Staffordshire Terrier

Hometown: Seattle, Washington
Sue (or, as she is known by her fellow protesters, “A boy named Sue”) hopped freight trains from Vancouver to New York City, to become part of the community. “It’s a great place to be … a great place to meet new people and fight for a good cause,” says Ryan. Sue is a well respected protester and is gained a measure of fame from his brief appearance on CNN, where he was thrown through the air.
Daisy
Age: Five years
Breed: Terrier/Collie mix
Owner: Georgina
Hometown: South Mississippi
She may be a mixed-breed but Daisy has no mixed feelings about why she is protesting on Wall Street. The Mississippi girl came to the park because of change, says her owner. ” I want to make to make a difference. I want to see our United States be able to support itself and it’s children, because the way it’s going now we won’t be able to support ourselves for retirement.”
Bou
Age: One year
Breed: Pit bull
Owner: Ashton
Hometown: California
Bou might seem like your typical tough pit bull, but he’s been through a rough couple months after being laid off his last job in upstate New York. After trying with no luck to find another job, Bou’s owener said that he thought the protests would be a great opportunity to meet people.” I don’t really have any family or friends out here. I am kind of stuck here on my own.”
