Able to trace its roots back to 1799, The Home for Little Wanderers is the oldest child welfare agency in the nation and one of New England’s largest.
Today, behind its quaint name is an organization providing an array of critical services for children and youth from birth to age 21.
The Home’s goal is to keep vulnerable families unified and children safe and in their communities.
When it is not possible or advisable, the Home works to stabilize the family, and, simultaneously provide the children with a temporary therapeutic living arrangement.
Programs include early childhood services, family-focused clinical therapy, special education, therapeutic residential and respite treatment, adoption, intensive foster care and independent/transitional living.
The Home for Little Wanderers has a dedicated staff of more than 600 employees at more than 20 programs throughout Boston and Eastern Massachusetts who touch more than 7,000 lives each year.
