Tornado warning, violent storms sweep across Greater Boston

The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Boston as well as other parts of Suffolk, Middlesex and Essex counties Monday evening.

The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Boston as well as other parts of Suffolk, Middlesex and Essex counties Monday evening, as a series of violent storms swept through the area, downing trees and causing flooding.

Quarter-sized hail was also reported in some locations, but no tornadic activity occurred.

According to The Boston Globe, a trained weather spotter in Lynn reported a funnel cloud to the west at 5:55 p.m., but there were no confirmed reports of a tornado.
