Lance Armstrong has had a bad couple of weeks and they keep getting worse.
The internationally known cyclist who was stripped of his seven Tour de France titles last month recently had his honorary degree from Tufts University revoked.
The Medford university’s board of trustees unanimously voted at its regularly scheduled meeting earlier this month to rescind the honorary degree Armstrong was awarded in 2006.
“While continuing to respect the significant work of the Lance Armstrong Foundation, the board concluded that, in the wake of the recent report of the United States Anti-Doping Agency and its acceptance by the International Cycling Union, Mr. Armstrong’s actions as an athlete are inconsistent with the values of the University,” Kimberly Thurler, a university spokeswoman, said in a statement.
Also this month, Armstrong’s charity dropped his name to be formally known as the Livestrong Foundation.
The Anti-Doping Agency last month released a report that alleged Armstrong had been involved in the “most sophisticated, professionalized and successful doping program sport has ever seen.”
