As the news spread that Harold Ramis had died at the age of 69, fans of the late comedian began making a pilgrimage to the Hook & Ladder 8 firehouse in Tribeca, honoring him with a fitting tribute of flowers, candles… and Twinkies.
The firehouse on North Moore and Varick Streets served as the Ghostbusters’ headquarters in the classic 1984 movie.
In one famous scene,Ramis’ character famously uses the now-defunct Hostess treat as a metaphor for the climbing levels of supernatural activity in New York City.
A photo widely circulating on Twitter Tuesday claimed to show a Ghostbuster sign that had been hung outside the firehouse in memory of Ramis, but the fire department confirmed that it was an old image.
For all who saw/shared the photo of the #Ghostbusters sign outside #FDNY Ladder 8, please know it is *not* a current photo. #RIPHaroldRamis
