Two people were killed early today in a two-car crash on the Jamaicaway.

Police responded to the scene near Perkins Street around 3 a.m. Police say the initial investigation suggests a BMW sedan driven by a 26-year-old woman from Lynn crossed the yellow line and struck a Toyota Camry which was being driven by a 36-year-old from Roslindale.

Two women, a 33-year-old from Lynn and a 44-year-old from Everett, in the BMW suffered fatal injuries. Neither was wearing a seatbelt. The drivers of both cars were taken to area hospitals and are expected to survive.

Identities of those involved in the crash have yet to be released. No charges have been filed, but an investigation is ongoing. Police are looking into whether alcohol or excessive speed factored into the crash.
