Two more priests — Rev. James J. Collins and Rev. John P. Paul — were permanently removed from ministry, Archbishop Charles J. Chaput announced Sunday.
Accusations that both priests — well-traveled across the city and recently Northeast-Philadelphia-based — sexually abused 17-year-olds decades ago were substantiated.
Paul, 67, who served Our Lady of Calvary, was suspended in December days after he announced his retirement. He was allowed to continue practicing in the parish for almost a year before he was taken out of commission.
Collins, 75, who previously worked as a professor at Holy Family University, was placed on administrative leave after allegations surfaced last May.
The Archdiocese suspended 26 priests in 2011 while investigators looked into the results of a Philadelphia Grand Jury report that revealed many cases of sexual misconduct.
Since May 2012, more than half have been permanently removed.
