A man is dead and two others are under arrest after a shooting on board an MBTA bus at the Dudley Square station in Roxbury.

Boston police say the 26-year-old victim, whose name hasn’t been released, was shot multiple times around 9:50 Thursday night on a No. 28 bus. He was taken to Boston Medical Center and later died.

Brian Cooper, 25 and Jamel Bannister, 22, were arrested by officers patrolling the area after trying to flee on foot. Jake Wark, spokesman for the Suffolk District Attorney’s office, said the suspects are set to be arraigned Friday in Roxbury District Court on murder and gun possession charges.

Police interviewed dozens of witnesses at the scene and at police headquarters. Surveillance video from the bus’s camera will also be used in the investigation, which is being led by Boston homicide detectives.

A possible motive for the shooting has not been made public.

The Dudley Square T station was back open Friday morning.
