Police are looking for a man and a woman they say assaulted a police officer after he tried to bust them for jumping a turnstile at a Bronx subway station earlier this month.

The incident occurred shortly before midnight on March 7, police said. Travis Johnson, 19, and Dasia White, 18, allegedly jumped over the turnstile at the Parkchester stop without paying the fare.

A uniformed police officer stopped the pair and asked them for ID, but they then fled.

The officer caught up to the suspects and attempted to arrest them, but Johnson allegedly punched him in the face and White jumped on his back, knocking him to the ground. The officer sustained bruising and swelling to his face as a result of the incident.

Police released photos of the suspects this week.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then entering TIP577.
