Police said they arrested two teens in connection to the gunshot that sent a Queens girl to the hospital at around 4:42 p.m. during a basketball tournament at Beach 59th Street and Shore Front Parkway in the Rockaways.
A 12-year-old girl is recovering after she was shot in her leg while at a Queens basketball court on Saturday.
Police said they arrested two teens in connection to the gunshot that sent the girl to the hospital at around 4:42 p.m. during a basketball tournament at Beach 59th Street and Shore Front Parkway in the Rockaways.
Witnesses at the scene told responding officers that the girl had been shot by a male suspect had had fled on foot.
Paramedics rushed the young girl to North Shore LIJ hospital in stable condition.
Cops then began to look for the suspect, identified as 18-year-old Dwight Henderson, who was seen running through a nearby parking lot and jumping a fence.
Once other police were alerted to the suspect's description and direction, another patrol said they found him with Geena Hill, 16, on Beach 60th Street and Larkin Street.
Officers said they saw Henderson pass off the gun to Hill, prompting cops to arrest both of them and recover the loaded .9mm handgun.
Henderson faces a series of charges, including attempted murder in the second degree, first-degree assault, criminal use of a firearm, reckless endearment and resisting arrest.
Hill is charged with criminal possession of a defaced and loaded firearm.
