There’s some good news coming from the TD Garden, and we’re not talking about the first place Boston Bruins.

The owner of the arena, Delaware North Companies, announced on Monday that the facility will be undergoing a $70 million, two-year renovation that will “touch every aspect of the TD Garden fan experience,” the company said.

“With the TD Garden being nearly 20 years old, we recognize that these renovations are necessary, and we are confident that they will transform the fan experience from the moment a patron enters the building,” Charlie Jacobs, principal of Delaware North and the Bruins, said in a statement.

The renovations include the expansion and relocation of the ProShop to expand retail space and improve accessibility. It will be relocated to the second level, where it will be incorporated into the planned massive, mixed-use development in front of the arena called The Boston Garden. ProShop construction is set to begin in May and will be completed by the end of the year.

Additionally, the loge and balcony concourses will get “a complete floor-to-ceiling refurbishment and redesign” that will include new concession areas and more food and beverage options. The loge concourse construction is scheduled for this summer, with the balcony renovation to take place next summer.

The Legends Club, the arena’s largest restaurant, will also receive an extreme makeover, the company said.

An aspect that will be less visible but is being increasingly utilized is Internet access. The installation of high-density Wi-Fi throughout the arena is in the final stages and will be ready for the start of the 2014-15 NHL season. This will allow for new digital signage and new point-of-sale technology.

The privately financed upgrades are in the final stages of planning and design, and more are expected to be announced in the coming months.
