The New York City Police Department said at least two people died in unrelated shootings overnight.
The first reported shooting death occurred at around 2:20 a.m. Sunday morning in Brooklyn's Bedford-Stuyvesant.
Police said they arrived in front of a four-story apartment building on Lefferts Place to find three people with gunshot wounds.
A 32-year old woman identified as Tamecca Haskins of Bronwsville suffered a fatal gunshot wound to her chest. An unidentified 34-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his body.
Both were rushed to Kings County Hospital Center, where Haskins was declared dead on arrival. The male victim remains in critical condition, police said.
About three hours later, police in Staten Island arrived at a home in the Park Hill section to find a man shot in front of the one-story home on Britton Avenue.
Investigators said the 40-year-old man was found at around 5 a.m. unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to his head.
Emergency workers soon took the unidentified victim to Staten Island University Hospital North Campus, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Authorities said they made no arrests in either shooting and that the separate investigations were considered ongoing.
Police are asking anyone with information on either shooting to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS or to submit tips online.
