A 61-year-old French man was arraigned at Massachusetts General Hospital Thursday after his arrest at Boston Logan International Airport, where his flight was diverted.
Investigators say Edmund Alexandre, of Paris, France, is charged with interfering with a flight crew after allegedly becoming unruly on board an American Airlines flight from Miami to Paris.
Alexandre was on American Airlines Flight 62 from Miami to Paris when the captain diverted to Logan due to his behavior and requested State Police remove him from the plane.
Alexandre allegedly became upset when the passenger in front of him reclined her seat; when a member of the flight crew sought to calm him, Alexandre became more irate and then followed him down the aisle and grabbed him by the arm.
An air marshal on board subdued Alexandre and handcuffed him while the plane descended to Boston.
He was released on personal recognizance and is due back in court on Dec. 29.
Editor's note: The Suffolk District Attorney's Office originally reported Alexandre's age as 50. They have since said he is 61 years old.
