(Update) Man charged for MBTA bomb scare

The Boston police bomb squad was investigating this morning after a passenger dropped a plastic bottle under an MBTA bus.

The Boston police bomb squad was investigating this morning after a passenger reportedly dropped a plastic bottle under an MBTA Route 66 bus near Brigham Circle in the Longwood Medical Area.

The passenger has since been arrested.

Boston police and Transit Police spent nearly two hours at the scene near the intersections of Tremont Street and Huntington Avenue after theplastic bottle was reported to officials around 9:30 a.m.

"The Route 66 bus operator says a passenger exited the vehicle and dropped an object under the bus," MBTA spokesman Joseph Pesaturo said in an email. "A tow truck moved the empty bus to allow police to get a better look at the object. THe person who dropped a beverage container under the bus is in custody. He will be charged with disorderly conduct and interfering with public transportation."
