[UPDATE] Westfield baby found safe in Virginia

State police were on the hunt Wednesday for a Westfield woman who allegedly abducted her own 3-month-old daughter. The mother and the baby were found unharmed at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday in Virginia.

On Wednesday afternoon police said they were investigating “credible information” that the suspect, Cheryle E. Kozaczek, 28, headed south from New England along the Eastern Seaboard to the Mid-Atlantic Region with her daughter, Gaebria Kozaczek.

According to police, Kozaczek does not have legal custody of the infant, whose legal guardian is Kozaczek’s mother.

She allegedly left her Westfield home with the child around 1 a.m. Wednesday in a gray 2004 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck.
