A father and son from South Boston were arrested for a fatal stabbing that took place in Southie Sunday afternoon.

Elias Sanchez, 43, and Angel Sanchez, 16, are both charged with murder, authorities said. Despite his age, authorities identified the teen because he is facing a murder charge. They pleaded not guilty on Monday.

Police said officers were called to 246 Dorchester St. just before 5 p.m. and found the 29-year-old Edwin Santos suffering from a stab wound to the torso. He was taken to Boston Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities said that Elias Sanchez saw Santos standing with a woman outside of the market, approached him and began to beat him with a club or a baton. Shortly after, Angel Sanchez joined the attack and stabbed Santos, authorities said. A third man is also suspected of joining the attack and police are searching for him.

It was not immediately clear what motivated the attack.

The woman standing with Santos tried to defend him and armed herself with a knife. When police caught up with Elias Sanchez, he was suffering from a stab wound.

Elias Sanchez is expected to he in the hospital for several days, police said.
