Jared Remy, the son of beloved Boston Red Sox broadcaster Jerry Remy, was arrested after a violent stabbing at an apartment complex in Waltham late Thursday evening left his girlfriend dead.

According to police, Remy allegedly stabbed Jennifer Martel to death. She was found outside the Waltham home bleeding heavily after calling 911.

A comment about the murder was posted on Jerry Remy’s Twitter account this morning. It was posted by the writer for Jerry Remy’s website.

“It’s John. It’s difficult to comment after the news this AM. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Martel family,” the tweet said.

Jared Remy was previously arrested on Tuesday for assault and battery on Martel. He was released on personal recognizance.

Waltham police reportedly removed Martel’s body from the scene at the Windsor Village complex early Friday morning. A large bloodstain remains outside the apartment.

According to the DA, Martel’s daughter was at home at the time of the stabbing.

“It’s creepy, it’s a couple hundred yards from my window,” one neighbor told the Globe as she watched Waltham and State police process the bloody crime scene. “The little girl was literally selling lemonade the other day.”

Remy will be arraigned later today on murder, domestic assault and battery, and other charges.

In 2005, Jared was arrested for beating up his then-girlfriend. In 2009, he was fired from his role with Red Sox security after being implicated as a steroids dealer. An investigation found no evidence that Remy ever sold steroids to players.
