UPDATE: A law enforcement source reports that a possible suicide note was found in the purse of an off-duty cop who shot and killed her baby, the child’s father and herself.

The source paraphrased Rosette Samuel’s note as saying, “Sorry I had to do this. I’m going to take Dylan with me because I can’t bear it alone,” referring to her 1-year-old son.

It also referenced a sum of money in a deferred compensation plan and specified it should be used for the college education of her other son, 19-year-old Dondre Samuel.

Cops reportedly found a sealed envelope as well. The contents are currently unknown.

A source says Dondre is a student at Kingsboro Community College, and is on the soccer team there. He placed the 911 call after witnessing the incident, according to law enforcement, and is still being interviewed.

Metro’s original story is below.

A law enforcement source reports an apparent murder-suicide allegedly involving an off-duty cop in Brooklyn on Monday morning.

Officer Rosette “Diane” Samuel, 43, reportedly shot and killed her 1-year-old baby boy, Dylan Samuel-Peters, and the baby’s father, Dason Peters, before turning the gun on herself.

She is a 13-year veteran of the New York City Police Department, assigned to the 108th precinct in Long Island City, Queens.

Police report she had never discharged a firearm before, and was not on any kind of monitoring by the department.

A law enforcement source reports that Peters, 33, was found in the entryway of their first-floor apartment in East Flatbush. The bodies of the officer and her baby were found face up on the bed in her bedroom.

Cops say Peters had no criminal history and no Orders of Protection on file. He was born in Guyana.

Her 19-year-old son from a previous relationship, Dondre Samuel, is being interviewed by police, a law enforcement source said. Police reportedly have the officer’s mother, Verena Samuel, in custody as well.

Dondre was the 911 caller and a witness to the shooting, according to the source. He reportedly jumped out of a window and called 911. The elder Samuel may also have been a witness.
