VIDEO: Harlem Globetrotters ‘flash mob’ shocks subway commuters

After two weeks of training camp, the Harlem Globetrotters were ready to have some fun — so they decided to make a few lucky fans extremely happy on their way from Queens to Times Square on Tuesday.

In the video above, you’ll see how 7 train riders are just going about their everyday commute when the doors open and they hear “Sweet Georgia Brown” playing. But it’s not some bustler trying to make a few dollars — in walk nine of the Harlem Globetrotters.

It was an immediate spectacle as a series of basketball tricks began and straphangers cheered. Team members included 7-foot-4 Stretch Middleton and female star T-Time Brawner.

For the first time in the team’s storied 89-year history —and the only time this event will be regionally available — the Harlem Globetrotters will be playing in New York City during the holiday season.
