VIDEO: Occupy Wall Street clashes with NYPD, 12 arrested

A dozen Occupy protesters were arrested last night during a march that started at Washington Square Park.

The crowd of about 300 gathered in solidarity with protesters who were arrested in Oakland over the weekend during a raucous clash with police.

As protesters moved through Lower Manhattan Sunday night, several people threw bottles in the direction of police officers, according to the Times. Three of the people arrested were charged with assault and one with criminal weapons possession. The other protesters arrested are facing disorderly conduct charges.

Many of the protesters in last night’s march wore masks. When bottles were thrown, others in the crowd would try to direct police to the people responsible, according to Gothamist. The march ended at Tompkins Square at about 10:30 p.m.

This video posted by Gothamist shows an aggressive confrontation between protesters and police last night after a bottle was thrown.
