During his first state of the city speech, Boston Mayor Thomas Menino declared multiple times that he’s not “a fancy talkah.”

Over the last 20 years and five terms, Bostonians have come to know that as a fact and have even assigned a Menino flub a nickname: Meninoisms.

Despite the gaffes, which often relate to the names of sports figures, the 70-year-old has endeared himself to many Bostonians — if not to sports talk radio.

Below is a list of some of our favorite Meninoisms. What are yours?

Share your favorite Menino memories and Meninoisms whether they be the good, like his passionate speech earlier this week standing for gay marriage; the bad, like the time he thought Varitek split the uprights; or the ugly, like the time he almost fell down a step while holding a pair of scissors (thanks for the rescue, Councilor Yancey!)

Share with Metro on Twitter or in the comments section below and you may see them in Friday’s print edition.

*KJ and Hondo: Menino refers to Celtics stars Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo incorrectly.

*Who King Jr.?: While giving a speech during the 2012 Democratic National Convention, Menino refers to Martin Luther King Jr. as Martha Luther King Jr.

*From catcher to kicker: The infamous Varitek splitting the uprights.
