A globally known extreme wheelchair athlete on Wednesday will visit children undergoing treatment at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.
Aaron Fotheringham, a.k.a. Wheelz, will stop by the recently opened Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital to share his story with kids on their way to recovery.
In April, the hospital moved to a new 300,00-square-foot building in the Charlestown Navy Yard. The facility treated 32 Boston Marathon bombing survivors, including injured transit police officer Richard Donohue, who suffered a severe gun shot wound during a shoot out with the suspected bombers.
Fotheringham, 21, was born with Spina Bifida, a birth defect of the spinal cord which left him without the use of his legs.
Regardless, his wheelchair tricks include back and front flips. He is also the only person to successfully jump from the 50-foot Nitro Circus Live ramp.
His visit to Spaulding comes just months before the first North American tour of Nitro Circus Live kicks off at the TD Garden on January 5 (tickets available here).
