The wife of the witness who videotaped the controversial arrest of Staten Island man Eric Garner was arrested herself on Tuesday.
Police said Chrissie Ortiz, 30, was arrested in front at a bodega on Bay Street, steps away from the storefront where her husband, Ramsey Orta, videotaped police arresting Garner on July 17.
Authorities said Ortiz was in some sort of dispute with an unnamed victim when she struck the other woman multiples times to her head.
The victim reportedly suffered bruises and abrasions, but was not gravely injured.
Ortiz was arrested after cops arrived at the scene. She faces charges of assault in the third degree and was released with a desk appearance ticket.
On Monday, Ortiz stood outside a Staten Island courthouse when her husband was arraigned after he was charged with criminal possession of a gun.
Orta, 22, has been arrested 25 times as an adult with two felony and six misdemeanor convictions. However, both Orta and Ortiz claim his most recent arrest was a set up after he provided video of Garner's arrest and death to the New York Daily News.
