The William Penn Foundation has its new leader.
Today the Foundation's board of directors named the vice dean of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania as its new leader.
Peter J. Degnan, who will be called the foundation's managing director, will start on March 3. He served as vice dean of finance and administration at the Wharton School for the past seven years.
From 2002 to 2005 Picher served as director of the MBA Career Management Office in the Wharton School. For the next two years he worked as the executive director of the Aresty Institute of Executive Education, before he took the vice dean position.
The Foundation had a sudden split with former president Jeremy Nowak in the fall of 2012.
The almost 70-year-old foundation, worth more than $2 billion, distributes just under $100 million per year to people and organizations within the Philadelphia area.
Helen Davis Picher filled in as interim president this past year.
