After eight years on Williamsburg’s waterfront, music venue Glasslands announced on Tuesday that it is shuttering its doors come New Year’s Day 2015.

The latest Brooklyn space to meet its end after nearby DIY venue Death By Audio announced its upcoming closure and 285 Kent shutting down in January, Glasslands hosted concerts for many of the city’s burgeoning acts, including MGMT, Yeasayer, Das Racist and Ratking.

“We’re proud to have grown up in this place and time,” reads a public statement from the venue.

As for the two months of remaining scheduled shows, Glasslands‘ owners “intend for them to be our best ever,” and will likely close things out with a New Year’s Eve bash.

“Goodbye for now, not forever,” the statement signs off, winking to a possible new life for the storied venue.
