A woman was found dead in her bathroom Sunday morning, police reported.
Melissa Torres, 32, was discovered by police following a 911 call by a concerned person advising authorities to check in on her at her apartment on Clymer Street.
She was found unconscious and unresponsive in her bathroom around 7:30 a.m. Sunday.
Emergency medical personnel pronounced her dead at the scene.
Police reported the incident as a homicide and said a person had been placed in custody in relation to the incident, but that the investigation is ongoing.
A law enforcement official said Torres' common-law husband had walked into the neighborhood police precinct later that day and implicated himself in Torres' apparent suffocation.
He has a lengthy record of at least 25 prior arrests. He is still in police custody but has not yet been charged in relation to Torres' death.
