After a weekend of mild weather, New Yorkers woke up to heavy snowfall on Monday morning.

A winter storm warning remains in effect until 7 p.m. today for all five boroughs, Long Island and parts of New Jersey, according to the National Weather Service. Between five to eight inches of snow are expected, with the heaviest snow falling during the morning and early afternoon.

Monday’s high temperature will be around 33 degrees.

All New York City public schools are open on a normal schedule, but field trips are cancelled.

Alternate side parking is suspended for Monday. Garbage and recycling pickup are also suspended.

More snow is expected on Tuesday night. Between two to four inches will fall before changing to sleet and freezing rain on Wednesday morning.
