Winthrop man racks up eighth OUI charge

A Winthrop man with seven prior drunk driving convictions was held without bail this week after racking up his eighth arrest for being drunk behind the wheel.

According to State Police reports, Joseph Limone, 60, was arrested on the Revere Beach Parkway and charged with operating under the influence as a fifth or subsequent offense, operating with a revoked license, furnishing a false name, malicious destruction of property, making a harsh or objectionable noise in the operation of a motor vehicle, and civil offenses.

Police said on Tuesday, Limone was allegedly swerving, honking his horn, and yelling at another driver on the parkway.

When police pulled Limone over, he gave officers a fake name and told them he didn’t have a license.

Officers asked Limone to exit his vehicle and he failed four sobriety tests.

When they arrested him, Limone kicked out one of the windows of the police cruiser and was taunting an officer, according to police.

Limone was so combative outside the police barracks that troopers were forced to subdue him with pepper spray, according to reports.

Limone will be back in court July 18 for a hearing.
