A Norwood man pleaded not guilty Tuesday after he allegedly struck and killed a Wrentham motel manager with his pickup truck late Monday night, then dragged her body three miles.

Moses Acloque, 22, was arrested after a state trooper spotted him driving erratically in Foxboro. The trooper initially thought Acloque was dragging a deer carcass under his truck, according to a police report. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.

The body of 58-year-old Kanchanben Patel was found near Patriot Place. A police report said that before the trooper arrived, Acloque and a passenger had allegedly gotten out and inspected the body before putting the truck in reverse to dislodge it and drive away.

Defense said that Acloque fearfully fled the motel after an altercation involving staff.

Bail was set at $3,000.
