A Brooklyn woman with an oxygen tank died after a fire broke out at her apartment on Monday night, officials said.
The fire erupted just before 10 p.m. at the first-floor Gates Avenue apartment in Bedford Stuyvesant, police said.
Authorities believe Beverly Douglas, 65, was smoking a cigarette when she had a heart attack, police said. She dropped the cigarette, which officials think caused the fire.
Douglas was rushed to Woodhull Hospital and pronounced dead.
Police said no other injuries were reported in the fire. The official cause of the blaze was still being investigated Tuesday.
