A two-alarm blaze that ripped through a Hyde Park home Saturday night left an elderly woman dead.

Fire crews were called to 40 Colchester St. just before 8 p.m. for a report of a fire. When crews arrived at the single family home there was heavy fire showing.

An elderly woman was treated by emergency crews and taken to a hospital, but later died. A man who lived at the home was initially unaccounted for, but was found outside the home OK.

The fire was mostly in the basement and first floor of the home, the fire department said. Damage was estimated at about $150,000.

The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.

The medical examiner’s office will determine the cause and manner of death for the woman. Boston fire along with Boston police and the Suffolk district attorney’s office will investigate.
