Woman dies in school bus crash on Roosevelt Boulevard

A 46-year-old woman died Monday in a school bus crash on Roosevelt Boulevard in the Somerton section of Northeast Philadelphia, police said.

A 46-year-old woman died Monday in collision involving a school bus on Roosevelt Boulevard in the Somerton section of Northeast Philadelphia, police said.

The woman, driving a 2004 red Toyota Corolla, tried to make a left turnat Plaza Drive and East Roosevelt Boulevard about 4 p.m. and crossed into the path of a2006 blue Buick, which was traveling northbound in the left lane of the boulevard's inner drive, police said.

After the Buick struck the woman's Corolla in the left side, she swerved and hit a school bus on its right side.

There were no passengers on the bus.

The woman was transported to Aria Health Frankford and pronounced dead at 4:50 p.m.

There were no other injuries.

Police have not released the woman's name because the next of kin has not yet been notified.
