Philadelphia police are trying to identify a woman who was found Tuesday afternoon partially clothed and unconscious in Cobbs Creek Park in Southwest Philadelphia.
Investigators said someone called authorities shortly before 3:40 p.m. to report a woman lying in the grass in a wooded area near the 6300 block of Cobbs Creek Parkway.
Arriving officers found the victim unconscious and bleeding from the head.
She was rushed in critical condition to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where authorities said Wednesday she remained unconscious and unidentified.
The woman is described as a black female of about 35 years of age and weighing about 170 pounds.
She has a tattoo on her back that reads "Ed," according to authorities.
Police said they are still attempting to determine whether the victim was sexually assaulted, but the Special Victims Unit has taken over the investigation.
Anyone with information about the victim or incident is asked to call 911, to contact the Special Victims Unit at 215-685-3251 or 3252, or to submit an anonymous tip by dialing 215-686-TIPS (8477), texting PPD TIP (773847), emailing email@example.com or by filling out this online form.
