A woman is in critical condition after being violently beaten allegedly by a man in Chelsea early Sunday morning.
Police were called to Chestnut Street at about 4:30 a.m. and found a 29-year-old woman suffering from head injuries, according to the Suffolk district attorney’s office.The woman was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital where she is in critical condition.
She was found partially clothed and was badly beaten by a man authorities said she knew, according to WCVB.
State police assigned to the Suffolk district attorney’s office interviewed Manuel Marroquin, 26, of Chelsea, and arrested him for the attack, authorities said. He was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and will be arraigned Monday in Chelsea District Court.
