Zombie 5k race comes to Bay State

It’s survival of the fittest as runners gear up to try and stay alive during a 5K race where the undead are hot on the trail.

Starting May 5 and 6, the the zombie-infested adventure race, “Run for Your Lives,” is coming to the Bay State and will take place at the Amesbury Sports Park.

Athletes will hurdle through a wooded course while evading brain-hungry zombies that will chase them throughout the event.

Wearing a flag football-like belt with three flags, survivors on foot will traverse the landscape, making strategic choices, to find a way to the finish line without having their flag yanked by the undead.

If all three flags are pulled, runners will finish the race as zombies.

An “Apocalypse Party” is being held following the 5K, which will feature live entertainment, and nourishment for survivors and zombies alike.

Medals will also be given out signifying if you are a zombie-race survivor, or a brain-eating runner reanimated from the grave.

Prizes will be given to the top male and female human finishers in all age brackets.

“We hope Bostonians and folks throughout New England are ready, and wicked excited to run for their lives,” said Ryan Hogan, managing member of Reed Street Productions and co-creator of the race.

It is the first time the race will be coming to the Bay State.
