Calling them “odd birds” is part understatement, part compliment for Israeli comedy troupe Tziporela, which is returning to The Players Theatre this week after a successful run of its signature sketch show “Odd Birdz” last winter. The indie group blends music, comedy and “controlled mayhem” that transcends cultural divides. Theirskits skewerall-too-familiar situations like airport hijinks and modern dating. The nine performers also write, direct and choreograph.

Tarana + Tektonik

The Rubin’s identity is infused with the traditions of the East, and this Friday’s electronic concert hews close to that theme. Ravish Momin’s Tarana and cellist Dana Leon’s Tektonik both strive to produce “folk music from nowhere,” blending influences from India and the Middle East with electronica.

Central Park Underwear Run

There’s nothing more invigorating than a 1.7-mile run through Central Park on a beautiful summer evening – except, of course, doing it in your skivvies. The Underwear Run is an annual tradition that takes places every year on the Friday before the Panasonic NYC Triathlon. This event, for runners of all levels, builds excitement for one of the city’s most famous fitness events. Registration is closed, but spectators are welcome to cheer runners on and take photos.

Georgia Peach Truck

What began as a token of love from a Southern boy to aNorthern girl has grown into a dedicated Peach Truck, and for the first time Stephen and Jessica Rose are bringing their brown bags of fresh Georgia peaches to NYC this weekend, stopping at food halls and Smorgasburgs along the way. Some of their peaches also arrived early, and they can be found in pastries, ice cream and other goodies at restaurants and bars around town including Catch, Lexington Brass, Butter & Scotch, Whimsy & Spice and Luca & Bosco Ice Cream.

Idina Menzel

It’s fair enough that sizzling hot supersinger Idina Menzel is skirting the edges of NYC during her current world tour – we get her regularly on Broadway. Still, you can catch her just two hours out at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh. She’ll be covering several of her best-known hits, from some of her original tracks to (yes) “Let It Go.” In addition to her showtune staples, Menzel reportedly stretches her range with covers from Radiohead and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Sounds like it’s worth a trip.

‘The Wild Party’

One night of 1920s debauchery extends through the end of this week as Andrew Lippa’s “The WildParty” completes its five-performance run at New York City Center. It’s the last show running this year aspart of the celebrated Encores! Off-Center series, which produces beloved musicals that aren’t oftenstaged. And that means casting top talent that longer-running shows might not otherwise land: “TheWild Party” stars Tony Award-nominated Sutton Foster and Steven Pasquale.

Freddy’s Doggy Fashion Show

This Saturday, score some social media shares at the second annual Doggy Fashion Show, with a photo session and runway for your gussied-up pups. The event is part of Park Slope’s Summer Stroll, which closes down a stretch of Fifth Avenue for food and drink vendors, as well as activities that highlight the neighborhood.

This little band out of Ireland outgrew most venues a long time ago. Nonetheless, their iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE tour is making an effort to create a more intimate atmosphere by playing smaller stages. An eighth concert has been added, but tickets are sure to go fast — with or without you.

Documentaries stole the show at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival, and now you have another chance to see them at Nitehawk’s Summer Documentary Series. Catch tSNL doc “Live From New York” (July 20), see a counterterror raid first hand in “(T)error” (July 21) and get to know the art and science of New Yorker cartoons in “Very Semi-Serious” (July 22). Each screening is followed by a reception and talk with the filmmakers in Nitehawk’s bar, Lo-Res.
