Spring is being a little slow to arrive, so give it a nudge this weekend by visiting Smorgasburg, returning for its eighth year. Wear a scarf that can double as a napkin and don’t miss these five new food stalls.
The Imperial Egg
Scotch eggs are the closest that pub grub gets to a delicacy. These breaded and fried U.K. staples come stuffed with international delights like Moroccan spiced lamb with tangy yogurt sauce, a Japanese chicken sausage with soy aioli and more.
Curd’s the Word
Here are the keywords you need to know for this snack spot: cheese curds, beer batter, fried. It’s a Midwest treat, and comes in flavors including Buffalo, and an option called Cheese on Cheese on Cheese.
These guys will be making mozzarella “bombs” on site, injecting them with fillings like pesto and other sauces that will change with the season.
Indian tacos? Yes, please. The buttery-flaky paratha tacos that were born last summer at Park Slope Flea make the move to Smorgasburg. They will be “filled with all the delicious things from everywhere,” including vegetarian options.
The celebrity magnet restaurant will serve up Italian street food and what could be the new Ramen Burger (which, btw made its debut at Smorgasburg 2013). The new frittata di pasta, made with spaghetti and lamb ragu, is shaped and fried into burger form.
