The 7 train extension is coming -- for real this time.
The long-anticipated extension to 34th Street, Hudson Yards, will open on Sept. 13, Dr. Michael Horodniceanu, president of MTA Capital Construction, said during a board meeting on Monday.
The 1.5 mile addition culminates at 11th Avenue, opening up the far west side of Manhattan to straphangers.
Construction on the $2.4 billion project started in 2007.
The MTA has been training dispatchers for the line over the past few weeks.
The MTA also announced Monday a $205.8 million contract to add communications-based train control (CBTC) on the Queens Boulevard line. The feature, which works to better control train traffic virtually, is currently used only on the L and 7 lines.
