Amber Alert canceled following Bronx stabbing; suspect in custody

Amber Alert canceled following Bronx stabbing; suspect in custody

An Amber Alert has been canceled for a 3-year-old girl who was taken after her mother was stabbed during a domestic dispute in the Bronx Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

The alleged abductor and child’s father, Diomedes Valenzuela,is accused of stabbing a31-year-old woman several times during an argumentat about 1:45 p.m. inside of a building on Perry Avenue near East 201st Street. He then fledin a carwith the victim’s daughter.

EMS tookthe victim to St. Barnabas Hospital in critical condition.

Just after 5 p.m. police reported that Valenzuela was in custody and thatthe child, Rebecca Valenzuela,was unharmed.

Valenzuela was believed to have fled with his child to New Jersey and was last seen traveling on the George Washington Bridge. The 51-year-old was later arrested on the Garden State Parkway near Clifton, according to NBC New York.
