Body of man, 69, discovered in Central Park: Police

The body of a 69-year-old man was found by a passerby near Columbus Circle in Central Park Thursday, according to an NYPD report.

Police said they found the fully clothed man unconscious and unresponsive at 60th Street and West Drive, where he was pronounced dead.

The Medical Examiner continues to investigate the circumstances of the death, police said.

The witness who came across the body told 7 ABC News that he initially thought the man was only sleeping.

“I looked over and saw that it was a guy just laying there, he wasn’t moving I saw a lot of flies going in his mouth and once I saw them going in his nose, that’s a sure sign of death,” Joseph Hurt told the station.

Authorities did not immediately disclose the man’s identity.
