An American Airlines flight from Barcelona was met by the NYPD bomb squad on Sunday, officials said.

Just after noon, Flight 67, a Boeing 767 with 212 passengers, landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport, and was taken to a secure area, where passengers and crew were ordered off the plane and interviewed by detectives.

K-9 and bomb squad units swept the plane and cargo for explosives, finding nothing, said Joe Pentangelo, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department.

He said an unidentified caller had reported a bomb threat to police.

The searches were done by 2:16 p.m., and passengers were bused to customs.

Pentangelo said flights in and out of JFK were not interrupted during the investigation as the plane was isolated from the rest of the airport.

Some 100 Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the airport in case of an explosion, an agency spokesman said.

Officials are investigating who placed the telephone bomb threat. An American Airlines spokeswoman said the company apologized for the inconvenience caused by the alert.
