Always wanted a New York City Marathon medal but never had the desire, lunacy or physical endurance to win one by actually running it?

Well, now is the moment of mediocrity you’ve been waiting for! Someone is selling New York City Marathon medals, which appear to be pretty authentic, on eBay for about $90 a pop.

The sale of the medals was not approved by the New York Road Runners, the group that organizes the annual marathon.

“Absolutely not, the medals are for finishers only,” Chris Weiller, a NYRR representative told DNAInfo, when asked if this was an approved sale. “We are looking into how these medals could be made available and where they came from.”

DNAInfo reports that it’s not entirely unusual for runners to sell their own medals, what strikes a chord among organizers and affiliates is the sheer amount of medals the account is selling.

eBay user library419 seems to have a history of selling off marathon medals, as the account reportedly sold four half marathon medals in October.
