Ahmad Khan Rahami, the 28-year-old New Jersey man accused of detonating a bomb in Chelsea on Saturday, is unconscious and intubated in a Newark hospital, according to reports.

After the shootout on Monday which resulted in his capture, the suspect was sent to University Hospital for injuries sustained during his standoff with police, New York Daily News reports

“He’s not going anywhere anytime soon,” Robert Reilly, media spokeman for FBI Newark, told NJ.com on Wednesday. “He’s pretty banged up.”

Once Rahami is in stable condition, he will be transported and appear in court, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Attorney General Loretta Lynch said she expects Rahami to face the court in the "near future," but Reilly said the suspect will remain under medical care until he is fit to travel, NJ.com reported.
