A construction worker died Tuesday afternoon after falling hundreds of feet down an elevator shaft, police said.

The NYPD found a 25-year-old male, unconscious and unresponsive, at the construction site at 301 W. 46th St., which will be the RIU Hotel Times Square.

He was pronounced dead at Bellevue Hospital, police said.

His name has not been released by authorities. The New York Times has identified him as Christian Gisci of Jersey City.

The investigation into the accident continues. The Times reported that the construction site was issued a stop work order in 2013 after complaints of unsafe working conditions.
