What’s Coolio been up to lately? Apparently, perfecting his chili recipe.
The rapper (and cookbook authorbefore “ghetto gourmet” was cool) is swinging by barbecue joint Hill Country Brooklyn, where they’re doing a month-long chili festival, this Wednesday as a special guest pitmaster to serve up some of his own Damn Hot Veggie Chili beginning at 6:30 p.m. RELATED: NYC Beer Week is a showcase of the craft beer world’s best Once everyone’s fed, he’ll also sit for a Brisket Sessions Q&A about going from cooking to Gangsta’s Paradise and back again. (Like many latchkey kids, Coolio was improvising his own meals since the age of 10.) It’s free to show up, though you’ll have to pay to sample the goods. But if you drop $10 for a ticket, you’re guaranteed a seat at the Q&A, a pint of Shiner and a sample of the chili, plus the fuzzy feeling of supporting the Jarez Music Foundation, which gets instruments into the hands of inner-city kids.
