Cops look for man tied to Queens woman found dead in bathtub

Investigators want to track down a man for questioning in the death of a Queens woman who died on Saturday after she was found with severe burns in a bathtub.

Authorities are on the lookout for Carlos Leon, also known as Carlos Alvarado, the victim’s husband.

Police said Miriam Velez-Samayoa, 28, was killed in the Jamaica apartment on 90th Avenue early Saturday.

Officers and emergency personnel arrived at around 4:04 a.m. to calls of a possible assault in progress when they found Velez-Samayoa, 28, in her bathroom with severe burns across her entire body.

Paramedics declared Velez-Samayoa dead at the scene.

It was unclear whether she died before or after the fire was set; the city’s medical examiner’s office was still determining the exact cause of Velez-Samayoa’s death.

The New York Daily News reported thatVelez-Samayoa and Leon planned on going to Guatamala to visitVelez-Samayoa’smother, and that Leon might already be on a flight out of the country although its unclear if he boarded the scheduled flight.
