Finding a job might become easier for out of work veterans in New York State.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Monday a new online portal will help veterans apply for temporary jobs offered through the state. The site will allow users to upload their resume, search by location and different state agencies.

“We owe all of our veterans a tremendous debt of gratitude for their service, and helping them find employment is an important way to support them here at home,” Cuomo said. “By connecting veterans with job opportunities in their area, this new online portal will help the men and women of the armed forces leverage their skills and experiences and ultimately grow their careers.”

Potential positions include disaster assistance, construction, highway maintenance, lifeguard and tax information aide.

Veterans can access the job site at www.cs.ny.gov/vetportal/. To be eligible, veterans must have a Department of Defense Form 214 and have been discharged after Sept. 11, 2001.
