A Bronx father has been arrested in the murder of his daughter days after the 5-months pregnant woman went missing.
Anndrea Caruth, 39, had been missing since Sunday when she was last seen seen at her home on Corsa Avenue in the Baychester section of the Bronx, which she shared with her boyfriend and father, according to NBC New York.
On Wednesday at 3 a.m. police reported that they found a woman’s body at the home that was later identified as Caruth. A foul smell coming from a closet in the basement led authorities to the body, the New York Daily News reported.
That same day Caruth’s 61-year-old father, William Caruth, was reportedly charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter in her death. According to the Daily News, an autopsy found his daughter was both strangled and bashed in the head. A financial-related dispute reportedly could be a motive behind the murder.
"She was a loving person who holds no grudge against nobody," friend Julia McCall, told NBC. "She was a wonderful, wonderful person, the best friend I ever had."
McCall, who said Caruth ran a day care, added that her pregnant friend was supposed to find out the gender of her baby Wednesday.
"She was very excited," McCall told NBC. "It's her first child, she even had a name picked out."
